2 people shot dead in Wisconsin cemetery shooting

RACINE, Wis. (AP/Gray News) – Police say two people were shot in a cemetery south of Milwaukee.

Racine police called Thursday’s shooting a “critical” incident and urged people to stay away.

Racine police said on social media that multiple shots were fired around 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Graceland Cemetery in Racine, south of Milwaukee.

Ascension All Saints Hospital, which is next to the cemetery, is treating an undisclosed number of victims of the shooting.

It was not immediately known if any suspects were in custody.

A hospital official said the facility was locked “out of an abundance of caution” after the shooting.

Police are asking people to avoid the Racine West area around the cemetery.

The shooting happened at the funeral of Da’Shontay “Day Day” King, who died on Friday, May 20. reports the Racine Journal Times.

King was shot after fleeing from Racine’s police. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
