DCHS will organize a visit to the cemetery

The Delaware County Historical Society (DCHS) announced on Wednesday its upcoming county cemetery and farm tour and historical reenactment which will take place on Sunday, August 28.

The self-guided driving tour begins at 1:00 p.m. Period re-enactments begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Stratford Barn, 2690 Stratford Road, Delaware.

This year’s tour has been expanded to include cemeteries in western Delaware County including Radnor, Bokes Creek, Mill Creek, Oller and at Depp Settlement near Shawnee Hills. Participants will receive map directions to sights and habitation sites, and DCHS docents will offer brief commentary at each tour stop.

“This event offers members of our community the opportunity to learn more about many of our prominent early settlers, through site tours, storytelling and live re-enactments,” said Donna Meyer, Executive Director of DCHS. . “We encourage history buffs of all ages to join us as we bring local history to life.”

Participants can walk the course at their leisure between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Food trucks and music will be on hand when re-enactments begin at the Stratford Barn at 5:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and/or blankets to sit on the lawn.
