Fermanagh and the South Tyrone Unionist Association pay tribute to the late Maureen West

Tributes were paid to late mother and grandmother Maureen West – a longtime member of the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) who was held in the “highest esteem of all in the local community”.

Mrs West, deceased of Rossahilly, Enniskillen, died peacefully at Millcroft Care Home, Enniskillen on Sunday August 21.

She was a staunch supporter and member of the Fermanagh Unionist Association and the UUP, wife of the late party leader Harry West and mother of Councilor Diana Armstrong.

Paying tribute to Ms West, a representative of the Fermanagh and South Tyrone Unionist Association said: “As the wife of the late Harry West, former leader of the Ulster Unionist Party, Constituency MP and Minister for Agriculture, Maureen was a steadfast and loving confidante of her husband.

“She was a loving mother and grandmother, and she was held in the highest regard by everyone in the local community.

“She was a long-time member of the UUP and was very involved in many grassroots Unionist movements, in particular our Ulster Women’s Unionist Council and the Fermanagh Women’s Committee, where she served as Chairperson. Her service to our party is well known. .

“Ms. West will be sadly missed by many, and her legacy of service and dedication to her family will live on.

“On behalf of the Fermanagh and South Tyrone Unionist Association, we offer our heartfelt condolences to the family, William, Rosalind, John, Diana, Ronald and Rupert.

“Maureen predeceased her husband, Harry, and her daughter, Mary Lou. Our thoughts are with the West family at this time.”

Organized by Keith Elliott – WT Morrison Funeral Directors, Mrs West’s funeral service will be held at Enniskillen Presbyterian Church at 2pm on Wednesday August 24, followed by interment in Breandrum Cemetery.

Beloved wife of the late Harry, cherished mother of William, Rosalind, John, Diana, Ronald, Rupert and predeceased by daughter Mary Lou, and mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister of Caren (Vancouver ), Ms. West remembers her family and those around her fondly.
