Palestine has condemned Israel’s Judaization operations in a Palestinian cemetery in al-Quds, as Tel Aviv pursues its goal of annexing new areas in the Arab part of the holy city.

In a statement released on Sunday, the Palestinian Authority (PA) Foreign Ministry spoke in the strongest terms of Israel’s continued bulldozing work – for the seventh day in a row – at the Islamic cemetery of al -Yusufiya.

The ministry condemned all forms of Judaization measures, including the digging of graves in the cemetery, located outside the al-Asbat gate of al-Quds old city, stressing that such attempts were aimed at erase the historical identity of the site, the Palestinian official said. Wafa News Agency reported.

“It is a continuing crime committed by the” inhuman regime “of hatred and resentment,” the entity “of occupation and apartheid,” the statement read.

Last month, Israeli authorities razed parts of al-Yusufiya cemetery to pave the way for the construction of a biblical national park on the cemetery site. The leveling work took place after an Israeli court approved an order from the Israeli municipality of al-Quds to resume the flattening of the cemetery, which had been suspended for some time. The court order prohibits Palestinian Muslims from digging new graves in the cemetery, a decision that is part of the overall Judaization of al-Quds.

Palestinians, Jordanians and Iraqis martyred by Israeli militias during the 1967 Palestine War were buried in al-Yusufiya cemetery, which is one of the most important Islamic monuments in al-Quds.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry on Sunday called the crime and other violations among crimes against humanity punishable by international courts and under international law. He also stressed that such crimes require immediate international action to hold those involved to account. The ministry also pointed out that the Israeli operation at al-Yusufiya cemetery is further solid proof of the human and moral degradation of those behind such a heinous crime. He further stressed that chasing Palestinians to their graves is the worst form of crime.

More than 600,000 Israelis live in more than 230 settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Al-Quds. All settlements are illegal under international law because they are built on occupied land. The UN Security Council has condemned Israel’s colonization activities in the occupied territories in several resolutions.
