CONCORD, NH (AP) – A Bridge and Cemetery are the six properties added to the New Hampshire Register of Historic Places.

The Milford Suspension Bridge has been in almost constant use since its construction in 1889, the state’s historic resources division said in a press release.

“In an era when walking across the river was the norm in small towns in New Hampshire, the suspension bridge made it easy to move from residential areas on the east side of the river to resorts on the river. manufacturing, business district, town hall and high school on the west side, ”the division said.

Forest Glade Cemetery in Somersworth was established in 1851 after the town and Rollinsford became separate municipalities. The division said the cemetery is a “notable example” of the mid-19th century rural cemetery movement that began at Mount Auburn Cemetery in Cambridge, Mass.

Other places named in the register are Conant Lodge, the communal dining hall of the Cold River Camp of the Appalachian Mountain Club in North Chatham, built in 1908; Goodhue House in Deerfield, which dates from around 1773; the Columbian Manufacturing Company of Greenville Mill No. 1, built in 1829, with modifications later in the century; and the parish house of the Congregational Church of Lisbon, built in 1914-1915.
