The commissioner of the Texas General Land Office, George P. Bush, has removed his responsibilities from his director of investments, Rusty Martin.

At the Oct. 28 meeting of the Texas State Veterans Cemetery Committee, Martin called the cemeteries “money-waste programs” while discussing funding.

In response, Commissioner Bush called Marin’s remarks disrespectful and “an insult to anyone who has donned the uniform to serve our great nation.”

Bush relieved Martin of his duties with the Veterans Land Board. David Repp will assume the finance role of VLB until a full-time replacement is appointed. You can read his full decision below.

Repp is the Senior Deputy Director and Chief Financial Officer of GLO. He is also a veteran of the United States Army who also flew 100 combat missions from 2005 to 2006 in Iraq.

Dr John Kelley has been appointed the new Deputy Director of Cemeteries. Dr. Kelley is a retired United States Army veteran after 23 years of service, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, with deployments to Afghanistan and Kosovo.

FOX 44 News has contacted Rusty Martin for his reaction to Commissioner Bush’s decision. This report will be updated when it responds.
