Zhavame Elderly Association held its first meeting in Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame village on May 5th.

Zhavame, May 5 (MExN): Zhavame Elderly Association (SCAZ) held its first meeting in Pame Tsüdu, Zhavame village, bringing together hundreds of elderly people living in different towns in Nagaland on May 5.

Addressing the gathering, former Minister and Executive Advisor of the Senior Citizens Association of Nagaland (SCAN), Deo Nukhu, highlighted the benefits that senior citizens can enjoy through various government programs. He also pointed out that the elderly deserve the utmost respect in society while citing examples of how the elderly are treated with respect in countries like Japan. He further called on the elderly in Zhavame to stay healthy.

In his greetings, Zhavame Village Council Chairman Zao Krocha said he was happy for the first such event held for the elderly in the village and hoped that they will be healthy for life.

SCAZ Advisor P Paul Dukru also urged the rally. Other highlights of the event include the opening prayer by Reverend Akha Shupao, Pastor, ZBC, welcome speech by S. Joseph Shupao, song by Rapri Pohena, act of blessing by the oldest citizen of Zhavame Sova Rhi and the blessing of Sarhünyi Krocha, catechist, St Xavier Catholic Church, Zhavame. The program was chaired by Tho-o Shupao, secretary of the VDB.
