Another arrest was made in the fatal shooting of a woman at a cemetery in Killeen earlier this year.
Demario Jabar Moore II, 20, has been charged with murder for his involvement in the March 22 shooting at the Garden of Memories Cemetery on State Highway 195. He was arrested by Killeen police on Tuesday, according to the spokeswoman for the KPD, Ofelia Miramontez.
The alleged gunman, Christin Lamar Weston, 17, was arrested on Saturday and charged on Monday with murder in the death of Yolanda N’Gaojia, 52.
According to the arrest affidavit, witnesses reported that while they were visiting the cemetery, a vehicle stopped in the road and at least one individual got out and started shooting at them. N’Gaojia was one of the visitors to the cemetery and was hit by a bullet and died from his wound, according to the affidavit.
Detectives learned that another man was visiting the cemetery with the victim and was potentially the intended target of the shooting, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the “intended target” and Weston are associated with rival street gangs. The names of the gangs were not mentioned in the affidavit.
A day after the shooting, officers located an abandoned silver Mercedes in a field. The vehicle had apparent bullet holes on the exterior, according to the affidavit.
After the vehicle’s registered owner told the investigator he had sold the car to a family member, later identified as Moore, a search warrant for cell tower location data for phone numbers telephone of the two suspects has been obtained.
According to the affidavit, location data on the day of the shooting showed the two individuals at their home addresses prior to the shooting. Moore’s phone then went to Weston’s home address and both phones began to go to the cemetery. After the shooting, the two phones were shown driving away from the cemetery, eventually returning to Watson’s residence, according to the affidavit.
In Weston’s arrest affidavit on Monday, Moore told Killeen police that Weston had asked him to come to the cemetery to visit a grave and that he had no idea Weston planned to shoot individuals. He admitted to officers that he had abandoned the vehicle in the hope that he would not be linked to the investigation, according to the affidavit.
Initially, Moore’s name was not mentioned Monday because there were no charges against him at the time. Moore’s bail was set at 1,000,000 by Justice of the Peace Bill Cooke.
