The Board of Directors of the Association of Jewish Cemeteries of North America (JCANA) elected Sherri Quint of Westbrook as the organization’s new president.

WESTBROOK, Maine – The Board of Directors of the Association of Jewish Cemeteries of North America (JCANA) elected Sherri Quint of Westbrook as the organization’s new president.

Quint, originally from Houlton, was JCANA Treasurer for two years immediately prior to this appointment.

“I am very honored to have been elected Chairman of the JCANA Board of Directors,” said Quint. “I am fortunate to have the support of a dedicated and talented board. We have a great vision to increase the number of members of our organization. At the start of my term, I intend to continue and expand the mission of the original founders of JCANA.

Quint has worked for Temple Beth El in Portland, Maine for 11 years. In addition to her duties as Controller, she is Director of its Memorial Park and Treasurer and Executive Director of the Southern Maine Jewish Cemetery Association. She is also currently Financial Director of Shaarey Tphiloh Synagogue and Accountant for Hebrew Free Loan of Maine.

Quint has also been an active member of the Portland Chevra Kadisha since 2011 and is a licensed funeral assistant in the state.

“We are fortunate to have someone with so much passion at the head of our board of directors. Sherri will continue to guide our organization to help members ensure their cemeteries receive the care and respect they deserve, ”said Lisa Vaeth, outgoing JCANA Co-Chair and Director of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Greater Hartford.

Jamie Cotel, outgoing JCANA Co-Chair and Executive Director of the Jewish Cemetery Association of Massachusetts (JCAM), said, “Sherri is a dedicated professional with extensive experience in all aspects of cemetery preservation and management. She is a visionary who will undoubtedly take JCANA to the next level.
