Three young local artists were recently honored for placing in the top three of the annual Clinton County Fair Association cover contest.
The drawing by Leah Karstetter, a seventh-grade student at Central Mountain Middle School, will appear on the cover of the association’s Premium Fair Guide, which is scheduled for release on Saturday, June 11.
The guide, published annually by the Fairs Association, will feature a wide range of information for the 49th Annual Clinton County Fair, which runs July 30 through August 6 at the Mackeyville Fairgrounds.
Two other students — one from Sugar Valley Rural Charter School and the other from CMMS — will also have covers featured in the guide.

Jillian Gressley, a seventh grader at SVRCS, placed second; and eighth grade CMMS student Brady Fickes placed third.
According to Gressley’s art teacher, Joan Walizer, “Jillian loves art and has always excelled in drawing.”
“Jillian is in the Sugar Valley marching band where she plays trombone. She also belongs to the junior high guitar club,” says Walizer. “She is interested in a career in graphic design.”
“The two winning CMMS students are excellent students and very talented artists. » Jaime McCann, CMMS art teacher, said. “I was thrilled to see so many students submit such incredible artwork. The winners were well deserved.
The fair association encourages everyone to come and see the works of the three young artists during the fair.
“Come to the 49th Clinton County Fair and see the talented seventh and eighth grade student-made artwork. The artwork will be on display in the Commercial Building during the week of the fair. The County of Clinton can be very proud of talented students,” said Fair Trade association member Connie Peiffer.
